Pra começar vale dizer que eu dou nota 11 em criatividade. O que não é incomum de acontecer tratando-se de HBO.
HBO é um canal que muitas vezes aposta em boas ideias de novos talentos e dá uma certa liberdade para os times de criação trabalharem – o que faz muuuuita diferença.
O mote da série é mais ou menos o seguinte: o cineasta escolhe um tema por episódio e narra suas reflexões existenciais relacionadas a ele.
Conforme vai desenvolvendo seus raciocínios, ele mostra imagens pitorescas da cidade de NY para ilustrar seus pontos de vista.
A série é muito inteligente e nos mostra que os seres humanos são mais parecidos entre si do que imaginamos – o que em minha opinião é uma das mensagens mais importantes que existem.

- Quando você vai tomar jeito e parar de entupir a criança de chocolate?
- Mais rápido do que você pensa! Eu parei com o chocolate.
- Sério? – perguntou a ex-esposa, incrédula. – Há quanto tempo?
- Há 2 horas.
- Ah, Humberto... Faça-me o favor!
Márcia soltou um sorriso de deboche, virou-se e fechou a porta, deixando o filho com o pai para o final de semana.
Ela o confrontava dessa forma mesmo. Na frente da criança, inclusive. Humberto não achava muito educado. A ex-esposa sempre reclamou bastante, mas havia ficado mais amargurada com a separação, há cerca de 6 meses.
O garoto, que estava com 6 anos, entendia boa parte das discussões dos pais.
- Papai, lá na sua casa tem chocolate?
- Não tem, meu filho. Papai comeu o último agora à tarde. Posso fazer aquele peixe que você gosta bastante, que tal?
- Êba!
Humberto havia decidido parar com o chocolate por um motivo legítimo: se considerava viciado na substância. Inclusive tinha discussões homéricas com seu nutricionista, que dizia que chocolate não era droga. Humberto citava alguns médicos que pensavam como ele, mas não se chegava a um denominador comum.
Viciado ou não viciado, o fato é que ele comeu 300 gramas de chocolate por dia, durante anos. A saúde já começava a pedir penico, e além do sobrepeso ele já tinha apneia e pressão alta.
Estava na hora. Tinha decidido. Não tinha volta.
Domingo à noite era hora de levar o pimpolho novamente pra casa da mãe. Dessa vez Humberto não ia falar nada sobre o assunto. Mas Márcia perguntou assim mesmo.
- E aí? Comeu chocolate?
- Eu não como mais chocolate. – disse, de forma assertiva.
- 2 dias sem comer? Faça-me o favor, Humberto!!
Com o mesmo mal humor de sempre, ela fez um sinal para a criança entrar e foi embora.
Quer dizer, sempre não. Sempre não seria justo. Sempre é uma coisa que acontece com 100% de precisão, e esse tipo de coisa não existe. Humberto sabia disso, tanto que na última briga do casal, quando Márcia reclamou que “sempre” era uma injustiça com ela, ele concordou.
- Tem razão. Não é sempre. É só em 98% dos casos.
O casal tocou-se a discutir estatística. Era porcentagem pra lá, porcentagem pra cá, regra de 3.... até que os dois decidiram se separar naquele momento.
Passou-se um tempo e o Natal chegou.
Humberto pôde ver os familiares, que não encontrava há algum tempo. A família até que era bem unida, porém o rapaz morava a 1000 km de quase todos.
Antes do almoço, todos se reuniram na mesa. Havia muito mais comida do que gente pra comer. Mas os Natais na casa dele eram assim mesmo. Fartos! Não devia nada pras famílias ianques, quando preparam ceias de Thanksgiving.
Quando quase todos já tinham afrouxado o cinto da calça, chegou a hora da sobremesa. Mousse de chocolate, receita caseira da sua vó!!
- Não vai comer, não, meu filho? – disse a mãe, preocupada.
- Não, mãe. Parei com o chocolate, já tinha te dito.
- Mas nem um pouquinho? – disse a tia que gostava de um conflito.
- Não.
- Quanto tempo tem que você parou? – disse o pai, pragmático.
- 2 meses, pai.
O pai fez um olhar de desdém
- Até parece que isso vai vingar! - disse o tio – Humberto, toma aqui, beba essa cerva aqui que vai ficar tudo bem!!
Talvez toda família grande tenha um tio que acha que a solução para todos os problemas do mundo é a cerveja. Desde uma dor nas costas até a paz no oriente médio.
Humberto ignorou seu tio. Decisão acertada, sem dúvida.
Mais tempo se passou. O rapaz estava firme no propósito.
Outro Natal reuniu a família toda. Na mesma mesa, inclusive. Chegou a hora do tradicional mousse, que deixava até o cachorro da casa com água na boca. Sabemos que cachorros não podem comer chocolate, mas o Shih Tzu via todo mundo animado e salivava do mesmo jeito.
- Quer o mousse, meu filho?
- Não, mãe. Eu não como chocolate.
- Certo, filho. Você está mais magro mesmo – disse a mãe, com um tom muito mais preocupado do que elogioso.
- A cerveja tá aqui, meu sobrinho! Você vai até esquecer que existe chocolate no mundo – vociferou o tiozão, bêbado, mantendo a tradição.
- Ah, mas isso é assim mesmo. A pessoa para um tempo, depois acaba voltando e engorda muito mais ainda. Chama efeito sanfona. – Atestou a tiazinha da discórdia.
Ninguém discordou da tiazinha na mesa, causando estranheza ao Humberto.
Passou-se mais um tempo. Humberto estava esbelto e saudável. Não foi fácil mudar a alimentação, mas aos poucos ele conseguiu.
Tinha mudado para um condomínio com vários apartamentos, e os vizinhos estavam oferecendo um churrasco para se conhecerem melhor.
Um vizinho com sobrepeso abriu uma caixa de BIS na frente de Humberto e ofereceu:
- Eu sei, eu sei que essa empresa escolhe as piores pessoas do mundo pra fazer propaganda pra eles, mas é que eu já sou meio viciado nisso. Você aceita um?
- Obrigado, eu não como mais chocolate. Me fazia mal e eu parei.
- Mas parou mesmo? Há quanto tempo você não come chocolate?
- 20 anos.
- Pô, Humberto, pra cima de mim?? 20 anos não é nada!! Toda semana minha mulher me diz que parou de fumar, é sempre a mesma coisa!
No mercado financeiro, o panorama é dinâmico e muda o tempo inteiro.
“Bolsa sobe, o dólar cai! Tenho certeza!”...
“Esse padrão gráfico aqui de nariz e costeleta é batata, ganho 100% das vezes!!”...
Essas são afirmações de pessoas que ainda vão ter que apanhar do mercado pra aprender.
Achar que encontrou fórmulas infalíveis é nada mais do que uma doce ilusão!
